Hello and welcome to Showcase Sunday. Inspired by Pop Culture Junkie and the Story Siren, the aim of Showcase Sunday is to highlight our newest books or book related swag and to see what everyone else received for review, borrowed from libraries, bought in bookshops and downloaded onto eReaders each week. For more information about how this feature works and how to join in, click here.
It was my birthday this week (huzzah, huzzah!) aaaand the goodies above were in a surprise package from the lovely Dani, who runs the blog Pen to Paper. Dani had a spare copy of The Immortal Rules that she sent me, along with a copy of the new John Green book which I’m really excited about, and a cute postcard! Thank you so much hun!!!! I can’t wait to read them. 😀
For review & purchased
Open Heart (Farsighted #2) by Emlyn Chand (ebook for review)
The Bone Collector (Lincoln Rhyme #1) by Jeffery Deaver (paperback, purchased)
I can’t wait to read these two!!! I loved Farsighted, Emlyn’s first book so I’m looking forward to reading Open Heart as well. It might take a while until I can read it due to my remaining exams but I still can’t wait! Thanks Emlyn! 🙂 As for The Bone Collector, it’s been on my wishlist for quite a while now and I got a few book vouchers this month so I bought a copy. The cover is actually stunning -in a creepy way- and it scares the heck out of me but it does sound like a gripping story! I’m so happy I found this in my local book store!
Other goodies and notes
Even though I didn’t get any of the books I ordered last week (or any of the books you guys sent me) due to the fact that TBD is fecking slow as usual, I did receive two Amazon gift cards from two of my friends, Nat @ Besotted with Books and Emlyn @ Emlyn Chand’s Blog and Journal – thank you so much guys, I LOVE you!! I’d also like to say a massive thank you to all of you for your birthday wishes on Facebook and Twitter, it’s so sweet of you!
And last but not least (geez, it sounded like something from an Oscar ceremony), a gigantic thank you to Marian Keyes who made my entire year by following me on Twitter, re-following me after I was stupid enough to accidentally block her while tweeting from my iPod, wishing me happy birthday, remembering where I live and actually talking to me. Those of you who read my very first blog posts know that she’s been one of my favourite authors for many many years now and she/her books helped me get through…well, difficult times (more about this in my review of Saved by Cake) so that’s why I’m so grateful/delighted/amazed/OHDEARLORD. *sigh*
Anyway, most of my birthday books have now been dispatched so HOPEFULLY I’ll have some more goodies to show you in the next few weeks 🙂 What did you guys get? Make sure to leave a link to your own Showcase Sunday post in the linky below – make sure to leave a comment after linking up and I’ll visit you back asap! 🙂 xxx
