Hello and welcome to Showcase Sunday. Inspired by Pop Culture Junkie and the Story Siren, the aim of Showcase Sunday is to highlight our newest books or book related swag and to see what everyone else received for review, borrowed from libraries, bought in bookshops and downloaded onto eReaders each week. A Curious Invitation: The Forty Greatest Parties in Literature by Suzette Field (for review)
The Terrace by Maria Duffy (for review)
Eye Contact by Fergus McNeil (for review)
The Charm Bracelet by Melissa Hill (for review)
The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky (won)
Aaaand as I predicted last week, all the review books I was waiting for arrived almost at the same time, hence I’ve had quite a busy week for a change. Huzzah! A Curious Invitation was an unsolicited one but I actually really like the sound of it. Also, the cover is just gorgeous and very shiny. It looks horrendous and very dark in this picture but if you’d like to see how lovely it looks, here’s a slightly better photo I tweeted the other day.
Also, do you remember by ‘Top 5 Halloween Reads‘ post from last week? Fergus McNeil’s Eye Contact was one of the five books on my list and then I was offered a review copy from the lovely people at Hodder. It sounds very creepy but I’m really looking forward to reading this one. Hodder also sent me the new Melissa Hill book which sounds like another lovely Christmas read. 🙂
I’ve seen Maria Duffy’s book a lot since it was released and heard great things about it but I’ve never actually had the time to get it and read it. Last week Maria asked me if I’d like a review copy and Hachette sent it to me all the way from faraway Ireland! As for The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Jess from Gone With the Words had a banned books giveaway on her blog and I was one of the winners. I’ve been meaning to read this book for a while so I’m super glad I won a copy. 🙂
As always, an enormous thank you goes to Maria Duffy, Hachette Ireland, Hodder & Stoughton, Picador and Jess from Gone With the Words for all these lovely books.
