Inspired by Pop Culture Junkie and the Story Siren, the aim of Showcase Sunday is to highlight our newest books or book related swag and to see what everyone else received for review, borrowed from libraries, bought in bookshops and downloaded onto eReaders each week. Hello everyone! How are you all on this (surprisingly lovely and sunny) Sunday morning? 🙂 I’m going to London in a few hours for a bit of Christmas market fun and to meet some friends, I’m so excited! I’m not a big fan of winter in general but London is always so lovely in all its festive glory, with all the Christmas lights and everything. And don’t even get me started on the markets! Heaven.
In bookish news, I only got two books this week so it’s going to be a rather quick update this time. So, shall we get started?
After months of cruel teasing (I’m looking at you, Hannah!), Faber & Faber have finally sent out copies of Alwyn Hamilton’s Rebel of the Sands, which is one of the 2016 releases I’m the most excited about. I love a kick-ass heroine and books with fantastic world-building, so based on the early reviews I’ve seen so far from fellow bloggers, I have really high hopes for this one.
And how awesome is that proof, by the way?! They got them printed especially for us, with each of our names written on the cover… Honestly, I’m speechless! I love it when publishers add personal touches to their books, so… well done, Faber!
I also got an old copy of Agatha Christie’s Hickory Dickory Dock from one of my colleagues this week. He saw me reading one of her books in my lunch break a couple of months ago and told me that they were in the process of getting rid of some old, unwanted books (including a bunch of Christie novels) and taking them to a charity shop. But because I’m a huge fan, he thought he’d rather give them to me. Thanks, John!
Which books did you get this week? Have you read any of these before?
