Inspired by Pop Culture Junkie and the Story Siren, the aim of Showcase Sunday is to highlight our newest books or book related swag and to see what everyone else received for review, borrowed from libraries, bought in bookshops and downloaded onto eReaders each week. Hello everyone! How are you? Did you have a nice week? Mine was pretty good, although it seemed like the whole week went by in a second. I got back home from a week-long holiday in Corfu this time last week, and… well, the first couple of days after a holiday always seem to go so quickly! (Or is it just me?) They involved lots of catching up at work, and writing my reviews for the books I managed to read during the holiday. I still have quite a few left, but I did manage to schedule some for next week – so keep your eyes peeled! 🙂
Cathy Kelly’s latest novel, Between Sisters, was waiting on my desk when I came home last Sunday. I wasn’t expecting it and, to be honest, I’m not entirely sure it’d be my cup of tea. I’ve heard so many great things about Cathy’s work, but it’s one of those genres that just don’t keep me glued to the page anymore. I might give it a try later on because I’m dying to know what the fuss is about, but I’m still a bit sceptical.
Many thanks to Orion for the book!
I also stopped by our local charity shop to see if they had any new books yesterday, and found these two. They had another ‘buy one, get one free’ offer, so I got them for only 80p! I’ve heard great things about Mark Billingham’s books, and Sleepyhead has been on my wishlist for a while now – really looking forward to reading it!
I wasn’t entirely sure about The Circle, because none of my friends read it and I couldn’t remember what genre it was exactly or whether it was worth reading, but we’ll see. The Goodreads reviews seem a bit disappointing, but I really like the concept.
Which books did you get this week? Have you read any of these three?
