Inspired by Pop Culture Junkie and the Story Siren, the aim of Showcase Sunday is to highlight our newest books or book related swag and to see what everyone else received for review, borrowed from libraries, bought in bookshops and downloaded onto eReaders each week. Hello, amigos – how are you all? How was your week? Mine was pretty good and stress-free for a change. In fact, I’m on a mini-holiday in Sweden as we speak! It’s only for the weekend and I’m heading back to the UK tonight, but still – it was nice to get away for a few days.
Since I didn’t have a chance to show you my new books last weekend, I have quite a big pile to go through today! This is about two or three weeks’ worth of books, mind you, so it’s not as bad as it looks, I promise. 😀 Right, let’s get started!
I had to pop into Asda last week and noticed Cat Clarke’s new book on the shelves. I’ve been looking forward to reading this ever since I finished Undone (which is still one of my favourite YA books) so I had to get a copy. Needless to say, I started reading it straight away and I’ve already finished it, so keep an eye on the blog for my review!
I also bought a copy of An Evil Mind by Chris Carter because as it turns out, I’ve been quoted on the front cover! My actual quote has been featured on the actual cover of one of my favourite authors’ book. It’s been a few weeks since I heard about it but I still can’t believe it. It’s literally the loveliest and coolest thing that has ever happened to me as a blogger, so I’ll treasure this book for a long, long time.
I also got some review books which, frankly, I wasn’t expecting at all! I haven’t been reading much women’s fiction lately (and the ones I started I simply couldn’t get into) so I’m not entirely sure what to expect, but we’ll see. Many thanks to Orion for the review copies!
I also popped into our local charity shop last week which, considering the size of my TBR pile and the lack of space in my room, wasn’t exactly a good idea. To make things worse (or better, depending on how you look at it), they had a ‘buy one get one free’ offer on all the books. You can imagine.
I ended up buying four Agatha Christie books – Problem at Pollensa Bay, Third Girl, The Adventure of the Christmas Pudding, and Why Didn’t They Ask Evans? – and another thriller which I kept seeing on Goodreads and heard lots of good things about. And all this for £1.60!
That’s all, you guys. What books did you get this week? Have you read any of these yet?
