Inspired by Pop Culture Junkie and the Story Siren, the aim of Showcase Sunday is to highlight our newest books or book related swag and to see what everyone else received for review, borrowed from libraries, bought in bookshops and downloaded onto eReaders each week. Hi guys! How are you all? Are you having a nice bank holiday weekend? I’m dashing off to London in an hour or so and I still need to get ready so I’ll try to be quick. 😀 Lots of books to talk about today so let’s get cracking!
I had a pretty good week book-wise, although some of these arrived last week when I didn’t have the time to post them on the blog. Last weekend, I was in Notting Hill and popped into a local Waterstones to have a look around. I spotted The Last Summer of Us, which has been on my wishlist for a while, and decided to treat myself to a copy. It looks and sounds like the perfect summer read so it’ll be perfect for next month.
The Baby arrived this Friday, and is a review copy from Chicken House (thanks, guys!). It’s a book about a group of friends whose lives are changed when one of the 17 year-old girls unexpectedly gives birth in her friend’s bathroom at a party. Unlike other teenage pregnancy books, this one is about teenage parenthood (not pregnancy) and is told from 5 different perspectives, including the father’s. I already started reading it yesterday so I’ll report back closer to the publication date. 🙂
No Safe House is another book I’ve been meaning to read for a while – many thanks to Orion for the review copy! It’s the sequel to No Time for Goodbye, one of the books I’ve talked about quite a lot here on the blog (we even had a readalong last year!). NTFG felt complete to me so I was pretty surprised when I found out there was going to be a sequel – but I’m definitely intrigued!
Last but not least, I won a copy of This is Not a Love Story – a book I’ve heard lots of amazing things about – from Atom Books on Twitter. Thanks, guys!
What books did you get this week? Have you read any of these four yet? 🙂
