The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organised by Amanda from On a Book Bender and Kelly from Reading the Paranormal. It’s a week long read-a-thon that begins at 12:01am on Monday, 4 January and runs until Sunday, 10 January in whatever time zone you are in.
Unlike other read-a-thons, Bout of Books is low-pressure. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional and it’s up to you whether you want to take part in these or just focus on reading. If you need more information about the event or how to sign up, make sure to visit the official Bout of Books blog.
Hello everyone and HAPPY NEW YEAR! *throws confetti* How are you all? I hope everyone’s well and your year and your 2016 reading is off to a good start. 🙂 Apologies for the lack of posts in the past couple of weeks – December was super busy and I barely had time to read, let alone sit down and write some reviews.
But luckily things seem to have calmed down a bit, so I’m hoping I can start reading a bit more – and update the blog more frequently. And what better way to motivate myself to do that than to participate in Bout of Books! I love readathons and even though I don’t have an awful lot of time to read these days, they always give me a little bit of extra motivation to curl up in bed with a good story.
So, to kick off January and to catch up on all the great books I was hoping to read last year, I’m participating in Bout of Books this week – and here’s what I’ll be reading.
I absolutely loved Tess Gerritsen’s The Surgeon, and I finished the second book in the series, The Apprentice, during the holidays, so I’m really looking forward to reading book #3 this week. To be honest, the synopsis – for me – doesn’t sound as promising as the previous two books, but I’m hoping it turns out to be great. And if you haven’t read the first two books yet, I really can’t recommend them enough!
If I manage to finish The Sinner in the next few days, I’m also hoping to pick up The Widow, which is a review copy from Transworld. The Widow comes out on the 16th, so fingers crossed I can read it before publication day!
What are your goals for the read-a-thon and what books are on your TBR? Let me know!
