The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organised by Amanda from On a Book Bender and Kelly from Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins at 12:01am on Monday, 17th August and runs until Sunday, 23rd August in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional and it’s up to you whether you want to take part in these or just focus on reading. If you need more information about the event or how to sign up, make sure to visit the official Bout of Books blog.
Good news, folks – Bout of Books is back for the fourteenth (!) time! *throws confetti* It’s one of my favourite read-a-thons and, since I’ve been struggling to fit reading and blogging into my life lately, I’m in despearate need of a read-a-thon and some extra motivation.
Unfortunately, I won’t be able to participate for the whole week as I’m jetting off to Sweden on Friday (what is it with BoB and holidays? I honestly can’t remember the last time I was able to do the whole week without going on holiday) but I’ll be here for the first four days. Plus, I’ll take my Kindle with me so I’ll have some time to read on the plane as well, even if I can’t update you of my progress.
I’ll try to focus on reading this time instead of completing challenges, but we’ll see how it goes.
My TBR seems slightly overambitious for roughly four days (well, four evenings really, since I’ll be at work during the day) but hey ho. I adore Cat Clarke’s books and they’re always unputdownable, so I’m pretty sure I’ll be able to finish The Lost and the Found relatively quickly.
I’m also hoping to finish Why Didn’t They Ask Evans? by Agatha Christie – one of my favourite crime writers, as regular readers will know. Slightly different style and genre from Cat Clarke, but it’ll be nice to have a little bit of variety. 🙂
I only included The Art of Being Normal because I don’t want to take any physical books with me to Sweden, so I’ll try to choose something from my Kindle. I’m downloading Chris Carter’s latest, I Am Death, as we speak, so it’s either going to be that or TAOBN. We’ll see!
What are your goals for the read-a-thon and what books are on your TBR? Let me know!
