Hello and welcome to A Backpack Full of Adventures! My name is Vicky, I’m 26, and I’m the blogger behind this little corner of the Internet. Although I was born and raised in Hungary, at 23, I decided to pack my bags and move to rainy England and start a new chapter in my life. Since then, I’ve been using my weekends and my annual leave to explore what the UK (and the rest of the world) has to offer, and discover as many beautiful places as I possibly can.
I’m constantly looking for new adventures, so when I’m not reading, blogging, or working, I can often be found with my nose buried in a map, planning my next trip. A Backpack Full of Adventures is a place for me to document my travels and wanderings, share some of my favourite experiences and places to visit (whether in the UK or abroad), and connect with like-minded people from all around the world.
About the Blog
I originally started this blog back in 2011 as a book blog (my bookish chums will remember it as Books, Biscuits and Tea) and, for the next 5 years, that’s what it was. A way for me to talk about some of my favourite stories, keep track of all the books I read throughout the years, and discuss bookish topics with other readers.
However, 2016 came around and I knew it was time to make some changes. From mid-2015 onwards, I was beginning to feel unmotivated and burned out. Although reading was (and still is) a huge part of my life, I just didn’t feel like writing reviews two, maybe three times a week. And when blogging is starting to feel more like a chore than a hobby, you know it’s time to re-evaluate things and have a good look at the core of the problem.
Which, for me, turned out the be the niche and the fact that it’s just… too limited. There’s only so much you can say about books and, after five years, I felt like I’ve pretty much said it all. There were so many other things I wanted share with my readers, so many tips and ideas, but I knew that a book blog wasn’t the best outlet for these topics.
Not to mention that half a decade is a long time, and it’s natural for your interests to change over time. And while I still loved reading and talking about books, I wanted to be able to talk about other things I’m just as passionate about – such as travelling or blogging.
So, in mid-2016, I decided to re-brand myself and return with a new name and a brand new purpose: to document my adventures across the UK and the rest of the world, and share my thoughts on backpacking, road trips, weekend breaks, and everything in between.
What You Can Expect
A Backpack Full of Adventures is a UK travel and lifestyle blog so, naturally, you can expect to see travel tips and ideas, travelogues, and of course lots of pictures from my various adventures. In addition to travel posts, I’ll also be sharing blogging tips and tricks to help you get the most out of your sites, and review the occasional book if I feel like it’s worth sharing with my readers.
I hope you’ll enjoy browsing through the site – and feel free to say hello if you stopped by!
